Refund & Cancellation Policy

We understand that travel plans sometimes change. The following cancellation and refund policy applies to all safari bookings made with Nina Safaris. We encourage all clients to take out comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.

1. Booking Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total safari cost is required to confirm your booking and secure accommodation and vehicle reservations. This deposit covers administrative costs and third-party commitments made on your behalf.

2. Cancellation Schedule

The following cancellation fees apply, calculated as a percentage of the total booking value:

  • More than 90 days before departure: Loss of deposit (30%)
  • 60–90 days before departure: 40% of total booking cost
  • 45–59 days before departure: 60% of total booking cost
  • 30–44 days before departure: 75% of total booking cost
  • 15–29 days before departure: 90% of total booking cost
  • Less than 15 days before departure: 100% of total booking cost (no refund)

3. Payment Terms

The balance of your safari cost (70%) is due no later than 30 days prior to your arrival date. For bookings made within 30 days of departure, full payment is required at the time of booking. Late payments may result in the release of reserved accommodation and vehicle bookings.

4. Force Majeure

In the event of cancellation due to circumstances beyond reasonable control — including natural disasters, government travel advisories, pandemics, civil unrest, or park closures — we will endeavour to offer alternative dates or a credit note. Refunds in force majeure situations are subject to recovery from our suppliers and may take up to 90 days to process.

5. Amendments

Changes to confirmed bookings (dates, destinations, accommodation) are subject to availability and may incur additional charges. Amendment requests must be made in writing. We will always endeavour to accommodate changes where possible.

6. Our Cancellation of Your Safari

In the rare event that we must cancel your safari due to circumstances within our control, we will offer you a full refund of all monies paid. We will provide as much advance notice as possible and assist you in making alternative arrangements.

7. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend all clients purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering: trip cancellation, medical evacuation, personal liability, and loss of baggage. Travel insurance is not included in our safari packages.

8. Refund Processing

Approved refunds are processed within 14–30 business days via the original payment method. Bank transfer fees and currency conversion charges are borne by the client. Refunds are issued in USD unless otherwise agreed in writing.
