About Nyerere National Park (Selous)

Formerly the northern part of the Selous Game Reserve Nyerere is a vast wild and deeply remote sanctuary in Southern Tanzania. It is bisected by the mighty Rufiji River making it one of the few places in East Africa to offer spectacular boat safaris alongside traditional game drives. It is home to large populations of hippos massive crocodiles and is one of the best strongholds for the endangered African wild dog. It offers a much wilder less-touristed experience.
